Understanding Trauma Part 1: Group Home Coalition Event

Despite trauma being a buzz word, it is important to understand what it means and the subjective experience of it.  Ever wonder if “that thing” was traumatizing?  Or if “that one person” responded the way they did because of trauma?  In this training, the instructor will provide a clear and concise definition of trauma and help learners to gain a basic understanding of the neurological and behavioral responses that result from a survival system.

What will students learn?

• Learners will understand the three categories of trauma.
• Learners will be able to define trauma.
• Learners will understand the basic neurobiology of a survival response.
• Learners will be able to name the three neurological self-protective responses and the behavioral responses that come from these.
